During the AnimeJapan 2023 Stage event, it was revealed that Mushoku Tensei season 2 will premiere in July. The announcement came along with a new trailer for the upcoming season.
The preview trailer prominently featured Rudeus and Fitz , the latter of whom was revealed at the end of the first season. The trailer revealed content adapted from volume 7 of the light novel, featuring Sara and the other members of Counter Arrow.
A new key image for season 2 was also revealed. The art features the character Fitz passing Rudeus in a hallway, serving as the counterpart to the key visual released in December.
New staff members were announced , including Hiroki Hirano as director, Toshiya Ono as series composer, and Sanae Shimada as character designer. Returning staff include Masakazu Miyake as art director and Yoshiaki Fujisawa as music composer.
The show’s first season ran from 2020 to 2021.
The anime is based on the isekai light novel series published by Kadokawa and written by Rifujin na Magonote with illustrations by Shirotaka, which is published under MF Books. The light novels ended in November 2022 with the release of volume 26.

The main staff for the first season include Manabu Okamoto (Gamers! director) as series director and composer, Hiroki Hirano (Sword Art Online: Alicization and Symphogear XV episode director and scriptwriter) as assistant director, and Kazutaka. Sugiyama (Chainsaw Man character designer, Her Blue Sky co-director of animation) as character designer. In the second course, animation director Mizuki Takahash i (Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan character designer) joined Sugiyama as character designer.
