“Today we’re going to talk about a subject that always generates controversy among anime fans: the hated characters. Those that make us turn up our noses, that irritate us deeply or that we simply cannot bear.

Who has never watched an anime and thought “how can such an unbearable character exist?”? Well, today we are going to list some of these characters that, however important they may be to the story, cannot win our hearts.

Shou Tucker (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

In 2009, an anime came out that still makes nerd hearts tremble: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Among so many outstanding characters, one in particular is responsible for causing shivers in the most sensitive fans: Shou Tucker. As a state alchemist, he became known as the “Sewing Alchemist of Life,” but his desperate pursuit of results ultimately took a terrible toll on his own family.

To earn his license, Shou stitched his wife together with an animal, creating a chimera that begged for death. But that wasn’t enough for him, and years later, he decided to match his beloved daughter, Nina, with his dog, Alexander.

The result was a second Chimera that shocked not only Edward and Alphonse, but even the relentless Scar. It was this monstrous act that prompted Scar to kill Shou before he could be brought to trial.

Malty Melromark (The Rising Of The Shield Hero)

Within the isekai universe of The Rising of the Shield Hero, the royal family of the Melromarc kingdom is an intriguing mix of characters. The Queen is a noble, wise, and benevolent figure who quickly becomes a valuable ally for Naofumi Iwatani. Her daughter Malty also offers her help in a very helpful way. However, the Queen’s husband and eldest daughter have a very different story.

King and Princess Malty conspired to banish Naofumi from the kingdom and used lies and baseless accusations to permanently tarnish his reputation. Malty showed no regret for his actions, which ended up causing a great conflict with his own mother, the queen. Furthermore, Naofumi’s sabotage had a negative effect on the kingdom’s defenses against the terrible Waves, which further increased tension within the royal family of Melromarc.

Danzō Shimura (Naruto)

In Naruto, Danzo Shimura is an elite ninja who leads the Root organization, whose mission is to protect the Village Hidden in the Leaf at all costs, without expecting any recognition in return. At first, his intentions seem noble, but there’s more to Danzo than that.

Danzo is a cold, manipulative and cruel man who sees his subordinates as mere disposable tools – even by ninja standards. His ideas often clashed with those of Tsunade, the Leaf Village Hokage. Furthermore, Danzo had a plan to keep Naruto Uzumaki imprisoned in the village in order to protect him from Akatsuki, but his methods were extremely radical. Eventually he was killed by Sasuke Uchiha.

Muzan Kibutsuji (Demon Slayer)

There are some villains in anime that are popular despite their crimes, like Sosuke Aizen in Bleach or yandere Himiko Toga in MHA. However, there are others who are completely hated, like Muzan Kibutsuji in Demon Slayer. It was he who personally killed the Kamados.

Muzan is an extremely cruel and unsympathetic villain who seems to enjoy the suffering of others. He has no qualms about spreading pain and misery wherever he goes. While some fans find Muzan’s resemblance to Michael Jackson amusing, there’s nothing to admire in such a nasty and hateful villain, who became Tanjiro Kamado’s mortal enemy.

Gabi Braun (Attack on Titan)

Were it not for just two key factors, Gabi Braun, the young aspiring warrior, would indeed be admirable and somewhat likeable as a character, but this fiery and enthusiastic soldier has gone too far in the eyes of Attack on Titan fans. She cannot be easily forgiven for what she has done.

Gabi had the unfortunate honor of being responsible for firing the fatal shot that took the life of Sasha Braus, one of the most beloved members of the Recon squad. This brutal act instantly united the entire community against her, which is understandable.

Furthermore, Gabi is reviled for her brainwashing attitude towards her fellow Eldians, stubbornly believing that it is the demons who must be punished or slaughtered. This makes her all the more obnoxious to fans who, as lovers of history, know that the real fight is against the Titans, not between members of the same species.

Minoru Mineta (My Hero Academia)

Minoru Mineta, MHA trainee hero, is trying to improve his reputation by showing himself more courageous as a fighter and getting decent grades. In addition, he already had some clever moments in action, such as when he defeated the heroine Midnight in a battle. However, despite these efforts, he is still a difficult character to like, being one of the most hated anime characters.

Minoru’s perverted behavior is undoubtedly one of the reasons for this. He has voyeuristic tendencies, such as when he tries to spy on girls in the shower or snoops through their underwear. Also, he is easily startled and panics when things get out of hand, which doesn’t help his image among fans. However, there is still hope that he can change his attitude and become a more respectable hero.

Akito Sohma (Fruits Basket)

Akito Sohma, the villain of Fruits Basket, is a character that many anime fans find distasteful.

Akito demands absolute obedience and loyalty from the Sohmas and reacts angrily to any challenge. She uses verbal, emotional, and even physical abuse to punish and scare family members, which only further alienates them, especially Kyo, Yuki, and Momiji. Akito’s mother, Ren, is just as terrible, if not worse. However, the reasons behind Akito’s behavior are complex and explored throughout the story.Sugou Nobuyuki/Oberon (Sword Art Online)

Sugou Nobuyuki/Oberon (Sword Art Online)

Sugou Nobuyuki, Asuna Yuuki’s former fiancé and former head of RECT Inc., took on the name Oberon in the virtual world of Sword Art Online, in reference to the character of the fairy king in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Oberon coveted Asuna, wanting her to be his Titania, and this abhorrent attitude caused Kirito and fans of the series to unite against him.

Oberon possessed no redeeming qualities and was cowardly in battle. He treated Asuna cruelly and controllingly, as if she were a pet. His cowardice and weakness were even more evident during his fight against Kirito, so much so that he ended up being defeated in the game.

So there you have it, the most hated characters in anime!”
