For all you runner get over to the Firecracker 10K at Harvey West Park in Santa Cruz today.  Race Starts at 8am for those who have pre-registered, get there at 7am if you still wish to register.  This is a fun event for the whole family as there is also a 1K and 5K run for the younger runners.  When you finish the race every runner receives a free pancake breakfast.

Today is the first Saturday of the month so don’t forget to head over to your local Home Depot with your 5-12 year old and participate in the Kids Workshops.  Kids have so much fun making somthing they can take home, they also get a orange apron and a pin to show which workshops they have attended, and you will love it because it is free.  This runs from 9am – noon, and I sugguest you try to get their early as they might run out of projects as the day goes on.

Party in the Park in Aptos Village Park today from 11am-4pm.  Come and enjoy food, games, live music and more.  This is a great event to be enjoyed by the entire family.

It’s a great day for a swim and to celebrate Independence Day Simpkins Family Swim Center will have free entrance to all the pools from noon to 4pm.  Don’t pass up this opportunity to take the family swimming on a hot summer day.  They will even have the BBQ going all afternoon.

Today would be a great day for a hike in Pogonip.  Meet at the Friendship Garden in Harvey West Park for a Free guided nature hike at 10am.  At 1:30 meet at the Pogonip Golf Club Dr entrance gate for a Free guided nature hike to the lime kilns.For more info call 420-5270.

Scotts Valley’s Annual 4th of July Celebration will be held at Skypark starting at 3pm.  Bring a blanket and chairs to reserve your spot to spend the afternoon together at the park, and then enjoy the great fireworks display starting at 9:15pm over Skypark.  This is a fun day of games, food, live music and even a bounce house for the kids.
